-----start----- 11.01.96 congratulations on being able to answer dean richardson's questions.... couple of quickpoints.... lecture part of exam: heart, hoof, coelomic cavities, GI, NOT RESPIRATORY. practical exam: won't be any hearts or spinal cords on the tables, but could be some dyce figures.... the horse movie is at 4 pm today in B101. in today's dissection note the complimentary/collateral cartilage that comes off the back of Piii allowing more palmar extent of Piii, there is a medial and a lateral cartilage. it can calcify in older horses. "sidebone" re: carpi and tarsi: know bones in situ, eg on skeleton. again, the carpus has 3 associated joints...the radiocarpal joint, the intercarpal joint aka middle carpal joint, and the carpometacarpal joint. the distal two joint capsules communicate, the proximal one does not. don't worry about carpals and tarsals on the radiographs. DO know the accessory carpal bone, the calcaneus, and the hock. hock has that big calcaneus as opposed to the accessory carpal bone. know what inserts on accessory carpal and calcaneus!! -----end------
